In my efforts to always improve the Songbird Remix libraries, the first 10 volumes (The base package through Game Birds) are being updated to Poser 5+ compatibility and to have full DAZ|Studio versions. Both the Poser and DS versions will come with the latest CR2, trans-mapped wings and tails and revised crests parts. DAZ has asked that I distribute these changes directly through them, so once the updates are complete and checked, you'll be able to download them directly from DAZ. I'll notify you through my website and this newsletter as the updates become available. For Poser users the updates will definitely make life easier. The enhanced materials are now included in the MAT files so there's no need to go to the material room anymore. The new Trans-mapped feathers added considerable realism and several corrected joint parameters improve the bending down of the head and neck. The old crest letter system is no more and replaced by a number system which should make it much easier to find the crest you need rather than searching for an alphabet letter. The DAZ Studio versions feature the bird prebuilt with crests attached and named to reflect the bird species loaded. Every manual has been rewritten to included the latest DAZ|Studio use information and a hyperlinked Table of Contents. The manuals are done and available in Downloads. So when??? The Poser versions are complete and I'm halfway through the DAZ Studio versions. The Base package has already gone to DAZ and passed their quality assurance. That update for Poser and DAZ Studio should be in the DAZ system around the time Toucans is released. Revisions will include: Songbird ReMix, Characters, Woodpeckers, T-E-E, C&U, European Edition. Africa, SBRM2, Pet Shop and Game Birds. I will update the older freebies as well, but probably until April. With Yucatan being released, you'll find the Barred Antshrike, both male and female in Poser and DS versions in the Yucatan section. Although it says Yucatan is required-- it really isn't (I guess that's a benefit of getting this eNewsletter). I may add several more free birds from the Yucatan depending on my progress with the older library updates. Around the release of the Toucan package (mid to late February), expect a free Toucan species to show-up in the Toucan section. You will need to own the Toucan package for this since the toucan is a new model. For those who can't wait for the original Songbird ReMix revisions to be released through DAZ, Downloads also has version 2.9 of the Songbird ReMix CR2. This has the better head and neck bending parameters, plus a ChestPuff morph. I know many of you have been long-awaiting my baby bird project. I have all the ideas and parts on paper and will be starting next week. My target release for this will be late March/early April and here's what you can expect... -3 generic hatchlings (cr2) for a hummingbird, parrot and songbird - An egg (cr2) that the hatchling will fit inside of and will be able to hatch from with several breakaway shell fragments. - A Egg (solid) (cr2) with morphs for various shapes and a large spectrum (15-30) Mats for coloration, spots, etc to match species type. - 3 generic nests (pp2) for a hummingbird, parrot and songbird hatchlings REAL BIRDS: The Great Backyard Bird Count Your chance to take part in the eleventh Great Backyard Bird
