In Brazil, this macaw is called “arara-vermelha-grande” It has a very powerful beak which can generate a pressure of 2000 psi and can snap a broomstick in half. It is also known for its calm and sweet deposition, earning the title of the “Gentle Giant” and is one of the most popular macaws within the pet trade. It lives 65-70 years.
