Size: 6-7 inches (16-19cm)

Habitat: North America; throughout the Americas. Found mostly in woodland habitats.

Diet: Insects. Forages near the ground, generally in shrubs.

Breeding: Four white eggs are laid in a open cup nest fairly low to the ground.

Cool Facts: The song of the Swainson’s thrush is the only woodland thrush whose song goes up in pitch.

The Pacific coast populations are more reddish plumage than the rest of the birds in the range. The Pacific coasters winter in Central America while the rest winter in South America.
